After defeating American GM Fabiano Caruana, India’s R Praggnanandhaa has made it to the semi-finals of Chess World Cup. Praggnanandhaa’s Saturday, Sunday and Monday games ended in a draw. He now needs a draw against Fabiano Caruana to secure a spot in the finals against Magnus Carlsen. Out of the four Indians who participated in the tournament, Praggnanandhaa remains the only one to have come so far.

The 18-year-old is the only Indian after Vishwanathan Anand to come so far in the game. If he wins the semi-finals, Praggnanandhaa would be the first Indian to reach the finals and possibly win the Chess World Cup.
