Three shows took home major Emmys: Succession, Beef, and The Bear.
Succession's creator, Jesse Armstrong, took home an award for best drama series writing, and stars Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, and Matthew Macfadyen took home acting accolades. The show also received the night's last trophy, Outstanding Drama Series.
Additionally, Sir Elton John became an EGOT after winning his first Emmy. This makes him one of only a handful of performers in history to have received four major honours: the Emmy, the Grammy, the Oscar, and the Tony.
Abbott Elementary and The White Lotus were the other winners that evening.
Jeremy Allen White, together with Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, took home three acting awards for their roles in The Bear. After receiving comparable honours at the Golden Globe and Critics Choice Awards, Edebiri now has three in as many days with this win. Furthermore, it received the title of Outstanding Comedy Series.
Limited series winners included Beef, Netflix's take on road rage; drama winners included Succession; and comedy winners included The Bear. Steven Yeun and Ali Wong took home the awards for best actor in a limited series and best actress, respectively.
The White Lotus star Jennifer Coolidge won best supporting drama actress. For her role in Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Niecy Nash-Betts was named the best supporting actress in a limited series.
The strikes in Hollywood have pushed back the Emmys by four months.
