The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) held the 95th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. The awards celebrated movies that came out in 2022.
In India, Disney+ Hotstar live streamed the event. After hosting the 89th and 90th ceremonies in 2017 and 2018, comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event for a third time.
The film Everything Everywhere All At Once had the most nominations at the event with eleven and won seven prizes, including Best Picture. The Whale received two prizes, and All Quiet on the Western Front received four.
With Naatu Naatu's Best Original Song victory and The Elephant Whisperers' Best Documentary Short honour, India's RRR made history. As the first Asian woman to get the Best Actress Oscar, Michelle Yeoh made history.
