As we move towards the end of 2023, the anticipation for what lies ahead in the cinematic world is immense. All the studios are busy preparing their calendars and lineups. The leading streaming giant Netflix is also in the race and has introduced its slate for 2024. The lineup for next year is fascinating, with interesting stories and great names endorsing them.

So far, Netflix has announced many future titles and even shared the first look for some. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has announced his magnum opus, Heeramandi, a period series with an ensemble cast. The first look for Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila took the internet by storm. But what is surprising is that Heeramandi is not on the Netflix 2024 lineup, which means that we might have to wait much longer to watch it.

Amar Singh Chamkila

Cast: Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra.

Imtiaz Ali is back to feature films after 2020’s Love Aaj Kal and this time he will have a direct-to-OTT release titled Amar Singh Chamkila. A much-anticipated movie, it is based on the life of Punjab’s original rockstar, who ruled the music scene but was tragically killed at the young age of 27. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh as the titular character and Parineeti Chopra as his wife. It is said to be an AR Rahman musical with lyrics penned by Ali’s long-time collaborator, Irshad Kamil.

Yo Yo Honey Singh

Director: Mozez

Documentaries are the flavour of the season and docu-series is the new format that streamers are trying their hands at. While Taylor Swift: Eras Tour created history and an Indian documentary won the Oscars, Oscar-winning producer Guneet Monga and Mozez dive into the life of one of India's most controversial rappers, Yo Yo Honey Singh. It is said to be an unfiltered look into his life.

Do Patti

Cast: Kajol and Kriti Sanon.

Director: Shashank Chaturvedi

Marking the reunion of Kajol and Kriti Sanon after Dilwale, Do Patti is a mystery thriller that is Sanon’s foray into production, alongside Kanika Dhillon, who also works on the creative side of the project. There is not much revealed about the plot other than the fact that it is set in North India.

Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver

Cast: Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnman, Ed Skrein, Michiel Huisman, Ray Fisher, and ensemble.

Director: Zack Snyder.

Rebel Moon Part One: Child of Fire will release next week on Netflix, marking the end of the year with the streaming giant’s most expensive movie of 2023. Part two of the franchise will be released on April 19, 2023, and will take us deeper into the world that Zack Snyder has created. The movie stars a massive ensemble of supremely talented people.

Sweet Home Season 3

Cast: Cha Hyun-soo, Lee Eun-yoo, Lee Do-hyun and ensemble.

Creator: Kim Carnby.

Netflix’s much-loved K-drama is back for a new season, as confirmed by the streaming giant. The new season of the horror thriller will delve deeper into the trials. There are also said to be several confrontations between individuals who are navigating through monstrous transformations.

Killer Soup

Cast: Konkona Sen Sharma and Manoj Bajpayee.

Director: Abhishek Chaubey

Killer Soup brings three of the most seasoned names together, with Konkona Sen Sharma playing Swati Shetty and Manoj Bajpayee playing her husband Prabhakar in Abhishek Chaubey’s directorial. It is said to be a thriller with the wife's plans to replace her husband with her lover, after which the game begins. With a list of villains being thrown into the mix, the chaos grows. Killer Soup will available to stream starting January 11, 2024.

Kapil Sharma Show (Untitled)

Get ready for a laughter-filled comeback as Kapil Sharma and Sunil Grover reunite for a new Netflix comedy series. The laughter powerhouse Archana Puran Singh also returns, along with favourites Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, and Rajiv Thakur. Promising double the laughter and the signature warmth of the Kapil family, this show marks their return after a hiatus.
