Azaad box office day 1 early estimates: This Friday, attention has shifted to a new box office battle between Emergency and Azaad. Both films, set on a similar scale and from prominent names, have managed to generate decent buzz. But is it enough? Releasing on Cinema Lover's Day with discounted ticket prices ensures some profits, but will the movies capitalize on it? The Aaman Devgan and Rasha Thadani starrer, as of this afternoon, has shown a poor performance at the domestic box office, but it must pick up pace in the second half of the day.

Govind (Aaman Devgan) is a 'stable boy,' as his employer's daughter Janaki (Rasha Thadani) calls him. His crime? Being born marginalized, and exploited by Zamindars. When he escapes to the forest, he meets rebel Vikram Singh (Ajay Devgn), labeled a dacoit. Govind falls in love with his horse Azaad at first sight, but tragedy binds them to fight their fates, rising above British and Zamindar oppression.
According to Sacnilk reports, Azaad has earned Rs 0.6 crore at the domestic box office by the last count. Directed by Abhishek Kapoor with music by Amit Trivedi, the film is riding on average buzz. Box office estimates suggest the movie might close day 1 with Rs 1 crore to 1.75 crore. While it's an improvement from earlier predictions, it’s not enough.
Interestingly, Emergency has better odds in this race, as its buzz, while decent, is louder than that of the Aaman Devgan film. Azaad needs to generate more hype than the Ui Amma song, the only trending promotional content. It remains to be seen if positive word of mouth strengthens its run.
Produced by Ronnie Screwvala and Pragya Kapoor, the film promises an emotional tale of love, loyalty, and courage between humans and animals. Azaad is racing in cinemas from January 17, 2025.
