Singham to Aashiqui 2: Bollywood sequels that became hits

Aashiqui Aashiqui saw great success in 1990, becoming one of the highest-grossing films of its time. Aashiqui 2 (2013) beat the success of its predecessor more than 20 years later.

Dhoom The 2004 action-thriller Dhoom was an instant success, and the Dhoom franchise is among the most successful ones in  Bollywood. Dhoom 2 (2006) and Dhoom 3 (2013) also went on to do well at the box office.

Dabangg Salman Khan as Chulbul Pandey sealed his place in people’s hearts in Dabangg (2010). He continued to wow audiences with the much-anticipated sequel, Dabangg 2 (2012), and Dabangg 3 (2019).

Golmaal With 4 successful films, when one thinks of a laugh-out-loud comedy, the Golmaal franchise immediately comes to mind. While the first film (2006) was a hit,  the sequels, Golmaal Returns (2008), Golmaal 3 (2010) and Golmaal Again (2017) enjoyed a good run in theatres

Housefull The Housefull series is a source of constant laughs and received positive responses for all the installments, be it the first film, Housefull 2 or Housefull 3

Singham Known for its action sequences and thrilling storyline, Singham became one of the highest-grossing films of 2011. Singham Returns (2014) received an equally positive response from the audience

Hera Pheri Hera Pheri (2000), one of Bollywood's most hilarious comedies, was a runway hit. The sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), also was a hit, and Paresh Rawal was the film's true star. Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty completed the trio and made a spectacular comeback on the big screen.

Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt made for a memorable duo who would be remembered for years to come. The 2003 epic film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.,  continues to have fans today as well. In Lage Raho Munna Bhai (2006), Munna (Sanjay) and Circuit (Arshad) succeeded in entertaining the audience once again.
