House Targaryen (of the dragons) was established by King Aegon. Things changed after King Viserys I’s reign. HOTD 2 is the battle between Rhaenyra Targaryen of the Blacks and King Aegon II of the Greens.
Originally from Valeria, House Valeyron is led by Corlys Valeryon, a naval leader who is one of the wealthiest and thus, strongest. Married to Rhyaenyra’s aunt, his support is clear.
House Hightower’s Ser Otto Hightower has served King Viserys I, and his daughter married him to give birth to Rhyaenyra’s step-brother, Aegon II. Being rival to the throne, the Hightowers side with the Greens.
House Stark, also called Wardens of the North, played an important role in Game of Thrones and while not central in House of the Dragon, they have pledged their loyalty to Rhaenyra.
Like the Starks, House Lannister is in House of the Dragon too, through Tyland Lannister, who works with King Viseyrs. Once wanting to marry Rhaenyra, House Lannister is with the Greens.
Ser Christon Cole of House Cole earned a place in King’s Landing and even won Rhaenyra over briefly. Since they parted ways, he has sided with the Greens.
House Cargyll from the Crownlands has two important members of Kingsguard – twins Erryk and Arryk Cargyll. While Erryk sides with the Blacks, Arryk supports Green in the Dance of the Dragons.
Lord Lyonel Strong from House Strong serves to King Viseyrs I, till his younger son Layrs kills him and his other son, Harwin in the cursed town of Harrenhal. House Strong has been in support of Greens during the Dance of the Dragons.
