New release

Manoj Bajpayee and Konkana Sensharma starrer Killer Soup, a dark comedic thriller, released today on Netflix

The story

Swathi Shetty (Konkona) plans strategy to replace her husband, Prabhakar, with her lover, Umesh. Manoj plays double role here!

Title montage

The series originally was named as Soup, but was then called as Killer Soup. Every montage hints at the ‘killer’ element in episode

A slow run

Stretching for almost eight hours, the series is a bizarre trip for audience. The tale simply ends in the same place where it all began

Plot device

In Killer Soup, the plot device is Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening by Robert Frost. An interesting poem to incorporate!

The drill

Swathi and Prabhakar are married. Swathi cheats on Prabhakar with Umesh, and in self defence Prabhakar is killed

The direction

Director Abhishek Chaubey attempts to show that whatever is happening around is more than what meets the eye

Bizarre plot

The constant crime leaves us wonder what is happening, while the rest on-screen population remains ignorant until called out

Well done Konkana

Konkana as Swathi adds depth to her role of being unapologetic about her wrongdoings. Manoj and her together are a treat!

Lack of depth

Too many characters and lack of depth did spoil the story. But there are moments that stand out in the first place
