The legendary actor is set to reprise his much-loved character Veerasekharan Senapathi, in Indian 2 which is a sequel to the 1996-released blockbuster Indian.
The veteran filmmaker is set to make a comeback to Tamil cinema after a long gap of 6 years, with the highly anticipated political thriller.
The veteran actor appears in multiple avatars, including the 90-year-old Senapathi, in Indian 2. A few portions will feature Kamal Haasan in a younger get-up, which is created by de-aging technology.
Indian 2 is set to release in two parts. Along with the second part, the cast and crew have also made the third installment of the Indian franchise. Part 3 of the film will be released soon after the second part's release.
Indian 2, which originally started rolling in 2019, was delayed multiple times. The shooting of the film was first halted due to a major accident happened on the sets, and later due to the pandemic.
The movie features late actors Nedumudi Venu and Vivek, along with Sidharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kalidas Jayaram, Brahmanandam, Bobby Simha, Delhi Ganesh, and others in supporting roles.
Anirudh Ravichander, the young musician has replaced Academy Award-winner AR Rahman who composed music for Indian, as the music composer for the upcoming second part.
Ravi Varman is the DOP of Indian 2. A Sreekar Prasad handles the editing. The project is jointly produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies. The movie is slated to be released in June 2024.
