The last great auteur of India's parallel cinema movement, Shyam Benegal, took his last breath on December 23, 2024, at the age of 90. Let's remember him by revisiting his iconic directed films:

Zubeidaa (ShemarooMe)

Set in the 1950s, it's about an ambitious actress who marries a prince, only to face tragedy for choosing independence. Starring Karisma Kapoor, the film won the prestigious National Award.

Manthan (ZEE5)

The film follows veterinarian Dr. Rao, who visits a village to establish a cooperative dairy for rural development. This film has also won two prestigious National Awards.

Ankur (ShemarooMe)
