Family Star Review - The Vijay Deverakonda, Mrunal Thakur starrer is a massive disappointment

Team OTTplay

Impressive chemistry

Family Star has Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur teaming up for the first time. Their chemistry looks impressive and is one of the major highlights of Family Star

Outdated narration

Parasuram Petla has directed the film and his narration is outdated. The story penned by the director is routine and his execution of the key emotional scenes is below par in the film.

Vijay steals the show

Vijay Deverakonda plays the role of Govardhan and his performance was quite endearing. Vijay plays a middle family man who gets cheated in love and holds our attention till the end.

Dil Raju disappoints

Producer Dil Raju is known to select films with strong content but he has failed with Family Star as the story, screenplay and production values, everything looks outdated.

Disappointing songs

A few songs from the film were decent hits but the way they are placed in the narrative is lethargic and does not make any sense. Gopi Sundar has done a poor job with the BGM.

Trolls galore

Vijay Deverakonda hams like there is no tomorrow. His lungi-clad avatar in a few scenes set in the US backdrop is cringeworthy and is being trolled by the fans and critics alike

Mrunal Thakur misses out

The film is based on Mrunal Thakur's character but the talented actress hardly gets space to showcase her acting prowess in the emotional scenes thanks to the weak screenplay.

Vijay's wait for a hit continues

Family Star is surely not a film of Vijay Deverakonda's caliber. Though he is lovable in the film, he needs to try something different to make a comeback. His wait to score a hit continues.
