Amaran is a biopic of Mukund Varadarajan, marking the actor's first biopic in his career. Sivakarthikeyan has undergone a massive physical transformation for the role.
He was an officer in the Indian Army's Rajput Regiment and posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra for his operation with 44th Rashtriya Rifles battalion.
Amaran is directed by filmmaker Rajukumar Periyasamy. The filmmaker has previously helmed crime action film Rangoon.
Actor Sai Pallavi plays the female lead in Amaran. It will be the first time she will be collaborating with Sivakarthikeyan.
Actor Kamal Haasan is producing Amaran under Raaj Kamal Films International banner. Reports also suggest that he will make a cameo appearance in the film.
