Mammootty, the megastar

Malayalam star Mammootty is set to celebrate his 73rd birthday on September 7. The veteran actor continues his domination in Mollywood despite his age. But take a look at some of the blockbuster films rejected by the star

Drishyam

This Mohanlal-starrer was first offered to Mammootty. Apart from the original version, even the Hindi remake of this crime thriller became a box-office hit. Mammootty rejected due to his busy schedule.

Driving Licence

Mammootty was offered the lead role in this film. However, it is still unknown why the veteran actor rejected the film. The Hindi remake of this Prithviraj Sukumaran-starrer is Akshay Kumar's Selfiee.

Iruvar

Prakash Raj was not the first choice to play the role of Tamizhselvan in this political drama. Mammootty was offered first, but due to some unknown reasons, he rejected the blockbuster film.

Rajavinte Makan

The action-thriller was almost accepted by Mammootty. But after learning that the film was being produced and directed by Thampi Kannanthanam, Mammootty backed out, and Mohanlal got the offer.

Memories

Director Jeethu Joseph approached Mammootty for the role of Sam Alex (later played by Prithviraj Sukumaran). However, Mammootty rejected the film saying the character doesn't have maturity, and was not convincing.

Ekalavyan

This action thriller was rejected by Mammootty because the script didn’t impress him. The 1993 action-drama propelled actor Suresh Gopi’s career into stardom.

Nattamai

This film was first offered to Mammootty for the role of Nattamai. However, he rejected the film due to unknown reasons. The family drama film was released in 1994.
