As per report, director Aashiq Abu wanted to cast Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role in the film. However, Dulquer was busy with other movies and he rejected the offer.

In an interview, filmmaker Mathukkutty revealed that he approached Dulquer Salmaan to become part of the film, but he refused the project and finally Asif did the role.
