Screaming, shouting, and surely tears of joy ensued as the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) women secured their spot in the Final of the Women's Premier League (WPL) 2024 after knocking out defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator clash. RCB will now face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Final on Sunday (March 17).
Following the delivery of the final ball by Asha Sobhana and her subsequent "I'm here, don't worry" celebration, fans swiftly took to social media, especially X (formerly known as Twitter), causing "Congratulations RCB" to trend. However, what caught everyone's attention was a video from the Delhi metro circulating online, showing fans chanting "RCB RCB," which later became a trending topic.
MI seemingly had the game in their grasp, needing just 20 runs off the last three overs with two well-set batters, Harmanpreet Kaur and Amelia Kerr, at the crease. However, in the final 18 balls, MI managed only 14 runs, failed to hit a boundary, and lost three wickets.

RCB's victory came as a surprise, especially considering their modest total of 135 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Mumbai's start wasn't explosive, but Harmanpreet put on a strong show, scoring 33 off 30. However, her dismissal proved to be the turning point of the clash as, thereafter, no boundaries were scored. Sophie Molineux and Asha Sobhana tightened the screws in the final two overs, even dismissing S Sajana (1) and Pooja Vastrakar (4) respectively.
