In preparation for the second season of the Women's Premier League, the five franchises were given the task of retaining the players they wished to keep and releasing the others by October 15.
As expected, all the marquee players, such as Harmanpreet Kaur from the Mumbai Indians (MI), Meg Lanning from the Delhi Capitals (DC), and Smriti Mandhana from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), have been retained by their respective teams.

Mumbai Indians (MI):
The inaugural champions have let go of only four players, with Dhara Gujjar being the only one who had seen any action in the previous season.
