WPL 2023: Everything you need to know about the inaugural Women's Premier League

The first-ever Women's Premier League (WPL) is all set to kick off in March. This will be one of the most anticipated lucrative franchise tournaments in women's cricket.

The five franchises have been sold for £465m, with one each in Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Lucknow.

The five teams: UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Mumbai Indians (MI).

When will the WPL 2023 start and where will it be played?

The WPL 2023 will begin on March 4, six days after the Women's T20 World Cup ends in South Africa. The tournament will run until March 24, a week before the IPL starts.

The matches will all be played across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The two stadiums are - the 20,000-seater Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium (60,000 capacity).

How does the WPL 2023 work?

At the WPL 2023, every team will play the other four teams twice. The top three from the league stage will qualify for the play-off stage.

The table toppers will reach the final automatically, with second and third place competing in an eliminator.

There will be four double headers with the first match starting at 3:30 PM IST. All evening matches will start at 7:30 PM IST.
