It’s the second week of the prestigious grass court Grand Slam Wimbledon and the men’s and women’s singles categories are already at the round of 8 stage. On November 9 and 10, the 8 men who made it to the quarter-finals will occupy centre court and court 1, the two surfaces that have retractable roof cover.

The first match on July 9 is between world number 1 Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev, both of who have not made it past the semi-finals stage at this Grand Slam. The duo has played each other 11 times with Medvedev having a slight edge with 6 wins. However, what’s interesting is that their last 5 encounters have all been won by Sinner.

Wimbledon 2024 quarter-final schedule

Quarter-final 1 - July 9 Jannik Sinner Daniil Medvedev
Quarter-final 2 - July 9 Carlos Alcaraz Tommy Paul
Quarter-final 3 - July 10 Novak Djokovic Alex de Minaur
Quarter-final 4 - July 10 Lorenzo Musetti Taylor Fritz

The second match on July 9 has defending champion Carlos Alcaraz playing Tommy Paul, with the latter marking his career best outing with a quarter-final showing. His earlier best was a fourth-round encounter in 2022. Alcaraz and Paul are evenly poised at 2: 2 in the head-to-head count and if their track record is anything to go, which see-saws from one to the other with every passing match, it should be the latter’s turn again to win.

On July 10, Novak Djokovic, who is chasing an eighth title to level with Roger Federer, will take on Alex de Minaur. They’ve played each other thrice, with Djokovic winning two, including one at the 2023 Australian Open. The other match is between Lorenzo Musetti and Taylor Fritz, who’ve played each other thrice, with the latter winning two, including at the 2022 Wimbledon in the Round of 128. Their most recent encounter at the Monte Carlo Open, however, went Musetti’s way.

The winners of the July 9 matches will play each other in the semi-final on July 12, while those of the July 10 matches will play the other semi. The prediction is that Alcaraz will play Sinner on Thursday, with Djokovic taking on the winner of the Musetti-Fritz encounter. All the matches are available on Star Sports Network, with matches aired on Star Sports 2, Star Sports Select 1 and Star Sports Select HD. The streaming partner for the tournament is Disney+ Hotstar.
