The inaugural season of the International Masters League (IML) came to a thrilling end on Sunday, March 16, with India Masters clinching a six-wicket victory over West Indies Masters. However, the match was halted briefly by a heated verbal exchange between India's Yuvraj Singh and West Indies' Tino Best, which stole the limelight.
The incident occurred in the 14th over when Ambati Rayudu smashed Ashley Nurse for six. Yuvraj Singh, who was standing at the non-striking end, directed some words at Tino Best, who was fielding inside the 30-yard circle. Best did not hold back and went shoulder to shoulder with Yuvraj, leading to an aggressive verbal spat between the two passionate cricketers.
On-field umpire Billy Bowden, Rayudu, and West Indies Masters skipper Brian Lara were quick to intervene between the two cricketers and separate them to calm the situation. Interestingly, the over before the incident, Best had been taken for 12 runs by the two batters in the middle. Watch the entire incident here:
Despite the on-field drama, India Masters emerged victorious, thanks to Rayudu's impressive half-century. In his 50-ball knock, the player smashed nine fours and three maximums, guiding his team to a comfortable six-wicket victory.
Before that, West Indies skipper Brian Lara won the toss and decided to set a target for India Masters. Thanks to a gritty knock by Lendl Simmons of 57 runs, the West Indies Masters were able to reach a decent total of 149 runs. On the other hand, India Masters bowlers delivered excellent spells, with Vinay Kumar and Shahbaz Nadeem being the pick of the bowlers. Kumar scalped three wickets, while Nadeem bowled an economical spell, conceding just 12 runs in his entire quota.
