Match 27 of the IPL 2025 between SRH and PBKS saw two Australian players, Travis Head and Glenn Maxwell, indulging in a verbal spat. The incident occurred during the ninth over of the SRH innings, which was bowled by Maxwell.
Travis Head had hit Maxwell for two consecutive sixes in that over, following which Maxwell lost his cool and threw the ball towards Head along with a few words. In response, Head confronted and didn't hold back by saying something in return. This resulted in a heated argument between two Australian players, which was later intervened in by the on-field umpire and another Aussie player, Marcus Stoinis.
Here is the full clip of the incident:
It was expected to be a high-scoring contest, and it ended up being the same, as bowlers of both SRH and PBKS didn't really have a great outing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Punjab Kings, while batting first, had a flying start as their openers hammered SRH bowlers all around the park.
Post the dismissal of Priyansh and Prabhsimran, PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer took charge and helped the team get past 200 with his emphatic knock of 82 in just 36 balls. Despite some resistance from SRH's Harshal Patel with four wickets, PBKS ended up scoring 245/6. Amidst all the carnage, Mohammed Shami, with 0-75 in four overs, delivered the second most expensive spell of the Indian Premier League.
In response, SRH openers backed their instincts and had a go at the PBKS bowlers right from the outset. Both Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma had an opening stand of 172 runs in just 12.2 overs. Head scored 66 runs before Chahal got him caught by Maxwell at the long-off.
Abhishek Sharma played a show-stopping knock of 141 runs in just 55 balls, which included 14 fours and 10 sixes. His innings guided SRH to the second win of the season. In the end, SRH chased down the mammoth score of 245 in only 18.3 overs.
