Team India's attacking wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant has recreated an infamous Stupid, stupid, stupid rant of legendary Sunil Gavaskar in a latest video. In the viral video, the player was seen trying to imitate the former great.
The actual incident took place during the Boxing Day Test match between India and Australia at the MCG. During the third day of the match, Rishabh Pant played an irresponsible scoop shot off Scott Boland that resulted in an easy catch at third man. This shot broke the nicely building partnership that India required it to carry on. Sunil Gavaskar, who was doing commentary alongside Harsha Bhogle at that moment, was fumed. Here's what he said:
"Stupid, Stupid, STUPID! You've got two fielders there, and you still go for that. You missed the previous shot, and look where you've been caught. That is throwing away your wicket. You cannot say that is your natural game. I'm sorry. That is not your natural game. This is a stupid shot. This is letting your team down badly. You have to understand the situation as well."
Rishabh Pant was purchased for a whopping price of Rs 27 cr during the mega-auction by the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). With this, he became the most expensive purchase in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Apart from this, the player is all set to lead the franchise in the upcoming IPL season.
Rishabh has already started his leadership duties with the LSG. In a recent video posted on the team's social media, Pant was seen motivating the teammates with his words. Here's what he said:
"I feel there is a lot of experience in the group. I think management has a lot of experience, we have a lot of senior players. Keep sharing your experience with the younger guys and let that experience flow into the younger group. We want to create a place where people can come and express themselves. It’s easier to say than to do it because it requires a lot of effort from each & every individual. It’s not just the management. I think it’s because of the players. We can create that environment. What I’ve always felt is that if you back your players and give them enough trust, they can perform at any level."
