During the high-octane IPL 2025 opening clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 22, a fan was unable to hold on to his excitement and breached the security to meet star player Virat Kohli. The incident happened during the 13th over when RCB was cruising away to chase down the target of 175 put by KKR. It was the same over in which Virat completed his half-century.

A fan who seemed to be a follower of Virat entered the ground to meet his idol. He then lay down in front of Kohli's feet to express his love towards the cricketer. The player later picked him up and gave a heartfelt hug before the security personnel escorted him out of the ground. Watch the full video of the incident here:

IPL 2025: RCB dethrones KKR in season operner with a seven-wicket win

The IPL 2025 season opener between KKR and RCB turned out to be a one-sided affair. RCB skipper Rajat Patidar won the toss and decided to bowl, which initially felt like a wrong decision. The KKR were off to a flyer and scored 60 runs during the batting powerplay despite losing Quinton de Kock. However, the spinners brought RCB back in the game by picking wickets at regular intervals. As a result, KKR was restricted to 174/8 in 20 overs, with Rahane (56) being the highest scorer. The newly picked Krunal Pandya scalped three crucial wickets of Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, and Rinku Singh.

In reply, the RCB was off to a blistering start with Phil Salt and Virat Kohli smashing KKR bowlers all around the park. During the first six overs, RCB scored 80 runs on the board, which set up a perfect base for the run chase. The key contributions from Salt (56 off 31), Patidar (34 off 16), and Kohli (59* off 36) ensured a comfortable win of seven wickets in just 16.2 overs.

Krunal Pandya was picked Man of the Match for his excellent spell during the match. With this, RCB has been able to break the losing streak of four matches against KKR.
