In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), Afghan fast bowler Naveen-ul-Haq grabbed a lot of attention for his altercation with Virat Kohli. While Naveen was only penalised half his match fee, Kohli was fined 100% of his match fees.

Now amid the whole spat, it has come to be known that it is not the first time that Naveen-ul-Haq has had a verbal debate on the field. Interestingly in 2020, he had a heated argument with Pakistani all-rounder, Shahid Afridi.

During the inaugural edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL), in the match between Kandy Tuskers and Galle Gladiators, Naveen had a heated exchange with Mohammad Amir, which led to a confrontation with Afridi.

Soon after, Naveen Afridi requoted a tweet about the incident and now the old post is resurfacing on social media.

Afridi went on to advise Naveen to show respect towards both teams and opposition players. "My advice to the young player was simple, play the game and don't indulge in abusive talk. I have friends in the Afghanistan team and we have very cordial relations. Respect for teammates and opponents is the basic spirit of the game," Afridi wrote on Twitter.

However, Naveen replied to Afridi’s tweet, "Always ready to take advice and give respect,Cricket is a gentleman’s game but if someone says you all are under our feet and will stay their then he is not only talking about me but also talking about my people".

As for the match, LSG after losing to RCB, faced Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their home ground, but rain interrupted play almost towards the end of Lucknow's batting innings. The rain did not spot and the match was called off. Both LSG and CSK will get a point each.
