The fourth and final Grand Slam major tournament of the tennis calendar, the US Open begins on Monday, August 26 with the main draw. Defending champion Novak Djokovic, who is fresh off a stunning victory at the Olympic Games to take home gold, is playing the tournament, even though there were fears he may have injured the knee that was operated on during the French Open yet again.

Djokovic will begin his title defence on August 26 and will take on a qualifier, Radu Albot. This will be the defending champion’s first match since the Olympic gold medal final against Carlos Alcaraz. Djokovic had skipped the Cincinnati Open and will look at a shot at a fifth title at Flushing Meadows. He’s played in the final 10 times, 4 of which he won – 2011, 2015, 2018 and 2023.

Gael Monfils, who, only days ago sent Alcaraz packing in the round of 32 at the Cincinnati Open is also opening his US Open account on August 26, as are the likes of Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Casper Ruud, Holger Rune, Alexander Zverev, Lorenzo Musetti, among others. India’s Sumit Nagal has a tough draw, starting off the tournament against Tallon Griekspoor.
