Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured Starc for a staggering 24.75 Cr, making him the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Earlier in the auction, Pat Cummins had claimed the title of the IPL's most expensive player, sealing a deal with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 20.5 crore after an intense bidding war.

Starc's auction journey saw Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI) vying for the pacer. The bidding quickly escalated over Rs. 7.00 Crore, with Mumbai leading. However, with a purse of just over 12 Crore, Mumbai had to tread carefully.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) entered the fray at Rs. 9.80 Cr, followed by Gujarat Titans (GT) joining in after Rs. 10.00 Crore. A heated bidding war ensued between GT and KKR, pushing the bid into the territory of the IPL's most expensive player.

In a matter of moments, Starc clinched the title of the most expensive player with KKR's winning bid at Rs. 20.75 Cr, leaving GT trailing at Rs. 23.50 Cr. After a prolonged discussion, KKR secured the triumphant bid at Rs. 24.75 Cr.
