Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah took to social media to give an update about Rishabh Pant's condition. The wicketkeeper-batter was involved in a horrific car accident on the morning of 30 December.

On the Delhi-Dehradun highway, his Mercedes had hit a divider and caught fire following the collision, eventually burning to the ground. At the time of the collision, Pant was traveling alone to Roorkee.

Talking about his condition, the BCCI secretary has promised all the necessary support to the cricketer and said they're closely monitoring his progress at the moment.

"My thoughts and prayers are with Rishabh Pant as he fights his way back to recovery. I have spoken to his family and the doctors treating him. Rishabh is stable and undergoing scans. We are closely monitoring his progress and will provide him with all the necessary support".

It has been said that Pant, despite his wounds, was able to break the car's window and escape just in time to avert what may have been a fatal collision.

Pant was taken to Saksham Hospital on Delhi Road after suffering serious injuries in the collision. Doctors reported that Pant had a broken leg and a forehead injury. Although he sustained burn injuries, the authorities said his condition was not serious. He fell asleep behind the wheel, according to the police.
