The eagerly awaited second semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2023 unfolded between South Africa and Australia on Thursday (November 16) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. However, the weather forecast in the city has not been favourable for the fans looking forward to this exciting clash, as there is a possibility of rain disrupting the match in Kolkata.

In anticipation of a potential rain washout on November 16, a reserve day has been set for November 17 to complete the semi-final clash between the two sides.

However, in the event of persistent rain affecting the reserve day as well, the team that secured a higher position on the points table during the group stage will progress to the final. In this scenario, South Africa, having finished second on the points table, would advance to the grand finale.

As of writing this article, 7 overs were completed, and the Proteas, who won the toss and opted to bat first, managed just 8 runs while losing two early wickets. Skipper Temba Bavuma departed for a duck, and Quinton de Kock went for just 3 runs.
