In an impressive display of batting prowess, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal propelled India to a commanding position in the Test match against the West Indies in Dominica. The duo, forming India's new opening pair, unleashed their skills on the opposition's bowling attack and by the end of Day 2, the Men in Blue had reached an imposing total of 312/2, firmly establishing their dominance.

Jaiswal became the 17th Indian opener to score a century on debut in Test cricket, while Rohit registered his second away century. Their remarkable partnership of 229 runs not only solidified their dominance but also etched their names in the history books.

The opening pair's double-century stand created history, as it surpassed the previous record of 159 runs set by Virender Sehwag and Wasim Jaffer in the 2006 Gros Islet Test. Rohit and Jaiswal now hold the record for the highest opening partnership for India against the West Indies in Tests.

Next to them is another legendary pair of Sunil Gavaskar and Chetan Chauhan's 153 in Mumbai back in 1978, followed by a 136-run stand between Gavaskar and Anshuman Gaikwad in 1976.

Rohit and Jaiswal's marathon stand also brought up India's first 100-run partnership for the opening wicket in 23 Test innings. In fact, this was the first time in the history of Test cricket that India took the lead in their first innings without losing a wicket.

Talking about Day 2 of the first Test, Virat Kohli joined Jaiswal after the side lost Rohit (103) and Shubman Gill (6). While Jaiswal runs away from scoring 150, Kohli is batting on 36 and India has posted 312 runs with a 162 runs lead.
