While the 1000th Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) was entertaining to watch at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (April 30), but it has now been marred by controversy.

The dismissal of Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma's dismissal has become the talk of the town and fans have been having a divided opinion on the same.

While chasing a mammoth target of 213, the 'Hitman' was adjudged clean bowled in the second over of the innings.

However, the incident has now left many fans on social media questioning whether Rohit was genuinely out or not.

In the review footage, it looked like the ball delivered by RR seamer Sandeep Sharma clipped the stumps before reaching the wicket-keeper Sanju Samson.

However, what grabbed everyone's attention was that the bails did not dislodge instantly. Once the ball had reached the keeper, there was some disturbance and then the bails lit up.

Even though the umpire ruled Rohit out right away, his fans believed the bails came off when Samson's fingers contacted the stumps.

Conflicting stories of what happened were presented from the incident's different camera angles, which has only enraged the discussion on social media.

As for the game, Rohit's wicket did not make much of a difference as MI soon saw a partnership between Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green.

The two shared a vital 64-run stand. Later, Suryakumar Yadav continued the momentum with the bat but it was Tim David's smashing performance that helped MI claim their fourth win of the season.
