On January 12, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) disclosed the Test squad for the initial two matches of the upcoming five-match series against England at home. Following this announcement, fans turned to social media to share their opinions on the player selections.

Simultaneously, Mumbai Indians (MI), an Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, also shared the squad on their various social media platforms. Nevertheless, the post by Mumbai Indians garnered mixed reactions from Rohit Sharma's supporters. The post showcased images of KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah, and Shreyas Iyer, noticeably excluding skipper Rohit Sharma.
