The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian squad for the upcoming 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 in China, and it does not feature Shikhar Dhawan.
Ruturaj Gaikwad, the promising young talent, has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the Indian contingent. The squad also boasts several new faces, offering them an opportunity to showcase their skills on the international stage. It's worth noting that the selected players will not be part of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
The Indian squad: Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Rahul Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, and Prabhsimran Singh.
The exclusion of veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan from the squad has raised questions among fans and netizens. Many took to social media platforms to express their surprise and speculate on whether this indicates that he could be selected for the upcoming World Cup.
The BCCI also released the women's squad for the Asian Games 2023. The Women's Selection Committee picked India's squad for the tournament which will be held from September 19 to October 8, 2023, at Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field. The women's cricket competition will take place from 19th-28th September 2023 in a T20 format.
