The greatest sporting event in the world, the Olympic Games is back and this time, all eyes are on Paris, where from July 26 to August 11, over 10,000 athletes from 206 countries will compete in 320 events across 32 sports for their moment of glory. This time around, the Olympic Games has introduced four new categories, namely, Skateboarding, Breaking (Breakdancing), Surfing and climbing. The broadcast partner for the Paris Olympics in India is Viacom with live streams set to be available on JioCinema and Sports18.

India’s contingent at the Olympics includes 117 athletes, competing in sports like athlectics (running, long jump, triple jump, shot put, javelin throw, high jump, swimming, tennis, archery, shooting, golf, weightlifting, Judo, boxing, wrestling, badminton, sailing, rowing, equestrian, hockey, etc. India’s medal hopes include last Games’ gold winner Neeraj Chopra (javelin throw), PV Sindhu (badminton), Mirabai Chanu (Weightlifting), Lovlina Borgohain (Boxing), Vinesh Phogat (Wrestling), Aditi Ashok (Golf), among others. India will compete in 16 sport events

The opening ceremony begins at 11 pm (IST) on July 26 with participants ferried to a flotilla in the river Seine. The platform will provide commentary feeds in multiple lungages, including English, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Although the opening ceremony is on the 26th, a few events, like Rugby and Football, will begin as early as July 24.

India’s events will begin on July 27, with badminton, equestrian, football, handball, hockey, etc. The athletics events start on August 1, with Neeraj Chopra’s event beginning on August 6 with qualifying. The events begin as early as 9.30 local time, which puts it around 1 pm.
