Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma are now officially separated after being granted a divorce by the Mumbai family court on Thursday, March 20. The couple tied the knot in December 2020 and have now ended their relationship after over four years. According to reports, the couple had cited compatibility issues and had been living separately since June 2022.

On February 5, the couple filed a divorce petition in the Bandra family court in Mumbai and further requested a six-month cooling period as per Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. However, the Bombay High Court asked the family court to take the final decision by March 20 since Chahal had to play in the upcoming IPL.

Yuzvendra Chahal's lawyer Advocate Nitin Kumar further confirmed that the family court has granted divorce to the couple. Here's what he said:

"The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife."

Additionally, Yuzvendra Chahal also agreed to pay the alimony of INR 4.75 crores to Dhanashree after the divorce.

Chahal to represent Punjab Kings in IPL 2025

After representing Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Rajasthan Royals (RR), Yuzvendra Chahal is all set to play for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the upcoming IPL season. The player was acquired at a whopping amount of INR 18 crores by the franchise at the IPL mega auction. With this, he became the fourth-most expensive player of the auction. Chahal had already joined the pre-season camp to prepare for the high-octane tournament.

Chahal has been one of the bowlers who draws the batsman to play a loose shot and ends up getting out. The player would be eyeing a comeback in the national side by delivering a great performance in the upcoming IPL season.
