The first T20I between New Zealand and Pakistan is done and dusted, with Kiwis handing over a humiliating loss to the visitors. New Zealand, having won the toss, decided to bowl with conditions favouring the seamers at Christchurch. Pakistan's top order, who were playing in the absence of Rizwan and Babar, got rattled as the team got all out for 91 runs in 18 overs. In reply, New Zealand came out all guns blazing and chased down the target in just 10.1 overs.

Pakistani openers Mohammad Haris and Hasan Nawaz, who tried to show some attacking intent, were sent for a duck by NZ bowlers. Apart from Khushdil Shah, who scored 32 off 30 balls, every recognized Pak batter failed miserably in front of the NZ bowling attack. Kyle Jamieson (3-8) and Jacob Duffy (4-14) bowled brilliantly and never let the opponent batters play freely.

The newly appointed captain, Salman Ali Agha, would have to revamp his tactics and make sure that the team makes a strong statement in the next match. On the other hand, New Zealand would like to carry on with the winning momentum and try to go 2-0 up against the visitors. The second T20I between Pakistan and New Zealand will be played on March 18 at the University Oval Stadium in Dunedin.
