The Indian cricket team's jersey for the upcoming Asian Games 2023 has been revealed prematurely, and pictures of the same have rapidly spread across social media. Notably, the Asian Games are slated to take place in Hangzhou, China, from September 23 to October 8.
Reportedly, the playing kit has drawn inspiration from the diverse art forms of India, paying tribute to the country's rich tapestry of culture and unity. It incorporates art forms from each state, prominently featuring the word 'India' in bold letters at the centre.
Earlier this week, on Tuesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) officially unveiled the ceremony attire and playing outfit intended for the Indian contingent.
Speaking at the ceremony Anurag Singh Thakur said, "It’s not just a uniform; it’s a symbol of pride and identity for our athletes. The uniform proudly represents India’s self-reliance and showcases the country’s diverse heritage and design leadership. I am confident that as much as the team will represent the young and new India; we will ensure historic performances and return with the best medal count. I urge the country to stand behind our athletes and cheer for them".
As for the Indian cricket team, it will be led by Rituraj Gaikwad. The CSK opener had attended a practice session in Pune to prepare for the event and even shared a snippet on his Instagram story.
Notably, this will be the first time that the Indian cricket team will be participating in the Asian Games.
