The 2024 edition of the Laver Cup, instituted in honour of veteran tennis player Rod Laver, which features 12 of the top international tennis stars in a 3-day invitational tournament, began on September 20 at the Uber Platz in Berlin, Germany. Founded by former player Roger Federer, the Laver Cup divides these 12 players into 2 teams – Team Europe and Team World - and features singles and doubles matches, with the first to reach 13 points declared winner.

Day 1 of the Laver Cup with 3 singles and a doubles match, which brought in 1 point per in, had the teams equally poised at 2 points each. On Day 2, each match win carries 2 points, meaning that 8 points are at stake. The schedule for Day 2 has been announced and will see Daniil Medvedev, Carlos Alcaraz, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton, Taylor Fritz and Alexander Zverev in action in the singles. Ben’s day doesn’t end there, as he will later partner Alejandro Tabilo in the doubles match against Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Day 2 schedule of Laver Cup 2024 on September 21

MATCH PLAYER 1 PLAYER 2 TIME
Match 5 (singles) Daniil Medvedev Frances Tiafoe 4 pm
Match 6 (singles) Carlos Alcaraz Ben Shelton 5.55 pm
Match 7 (singles) Alexander Zverev Taylor Fritz 10.30 pm
Match 8 (doubles) Stefanos Tstitsipas & Casper Ruud Ben Shelton & Alejandro Tabilo 11.50 pm

Points distribution of the Laver Cup

Considering that both teams have 2 points each, even if one were to win all the matches on Day 2, audiences are assured of a Day 3 of tennis action. Day 2 matches carry 2 points and Day 3 has 3 points.

The Laver Cup matches follow a 2-sets for a win pattern. However, if players are tied at 1 set each, it goes into a tie breaker and not a deciding 3rd set. All the matches on Day 1 were won in straight sets.
