Ace South African batter and wicketkeeper has reportedly announced his retirement from ODI cricket after the completion of the 2023 men's World Cup. Quinton de Kock, who made his international cricket debut in 2012, retired from Test Cricket in 2021 but continues to represent South Africa in T20s.

As far as his retirement is concerned, the opening batter hasn't yet made an official statement and the South African cricket board, too, hasn't shared a formal word on his decision. The news, however, breaks out on the back of the announcement of the World Cup 2023 squad, which will be led by Temba Bavuma who is likely to open the batting for South Africa along with Quinton de Kock.

Social media is abuzz with reactions to the news of Quinton's retirement and a majority of them point out that it occurs when is only 30 years old.

For de Kock, the focus is evidently gravitating towards T20s considering that he has found ample success in the format. In the IPL, he has played for a number of franchises including the Sunrisers of Hyderabad (2013) Delhi Daredevils (2014 to 2016), Royal Challengers of Bangalore (2018), Mumbai Indians (2019-21) and has been part of the Lucknow Super Giants team since 2022. He was part of the IPL-winning Mumbai Indians team in 2019.
