In the ongoing match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), Mohammad Shami has achieved one of the most unwanted records of his IPL career. The pacer has conceded 75 runs in his quota of four overs against PBKS. Shami, while bowling the final over of the innings, was hit for four consecutive sixes by Marcus Stoinis. As a result, PBKS has posted a massive total of 245/6 to chase for SRH at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Mohammed Shami is known for bowling a tight line and length and beating the batter with his skiddy pace. This time around, Shami didn't look to get the right line to beat the PBKS batters. The bowler was taken to the cleaners right from the first over of his spell.
During the post-innings interview, Marcus Stoinis said, "Nice to make a contribution, a little cameo from me there. There was a bit of spin and bounce. It's a very good score, depends on how we start in the powerplay and how we finish."
Apart from Shami, every other SRH bowler conceded more than 10 runs per over in their spell against PBKS batters. Earlier in the IPL 2025 season, Jofra Archer from Rajasthan Royals bowled the most expensive spell in IPL history. The player conceded 76 runs in four overs against SRH. On the other hand, SRH batters would back themselves to chase down the target and register a second win of the season.
