Match no. 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) turned out to be a high-scoring contest. PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer decided to bat first after winning the toss at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Chandigarh.
PBKS put up a mammoth total of 219/6 in 20 overs, thanks to the first century of IPL 2025 by young sensation Priyansh Arya. He played a sensational knock of 103 runs in 42 balls, smashing CSK bowlers all around the park. Priyansh displayed solid character at the time when the entire PBKS top and middle order kneeled in front of CSK. In the end, it was Shashank Singh (52) and Marco Jansen (34) who held the innings after Arya's dismissal.
In response, CSK started off the chase strongly with an opening stand of 61 runs between Rachin and Conway. CSK were right in the contest but eventually fell short by 18 runs, thanks to some great death bowling by PBKS bowlers, who didn't let CSK score a boundary for 22 balls straight. Conway (69), being the top scorer for CSK, got retired hurt in the 18th over.
With this, Punjab Kings are right back to winning ways after a 50-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in their previous matchup. The team currently sits in 4th position with three wins in four matches. On the other hand, CSK lost its fourth consecutive match of the season.
