After posting a mammoth 272 runs in their 20 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) went on to defend the total very easily, securing a 106-run victory in match 16 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

DC's top order did not get the start they wanted, but Rishabh Pant (55) and Tristan Stubbs (54) tried to put on a partnership, however, it was already too late. This game showcased a complete all-round performance from the men in purple and gold, and surely the team's co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was all smiles after this performance.

David Warner (18) and Prithvi Shaw (10) scored a few, but Mitchell Marsh and impact sub-Abishek Porel could not do anything as they both got out for ducks. Pant and Stubbs got their respective half-centuries, but after their wicket fell, it was all downhill.

Axar Patel (0), Sumit Kumar (7), Rasikh Dar Salam (1), Anrich Nortje (4), and Ishant Sharma (1*) could not contribute much. For KKR, Mitchell Starc finally struck as he got two wickets, while Vaibhav Arora and Varun Chakaravarthy were the pick of the bowlers with three wickets each to their name. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine also got one each.

Earlier, KKR narrowly missed matching or breaking the 277-run mark as they settled for 272 runs. The carnage began with Sunil Narine (85 off 39), followed by debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54 off 27), Andre Russell (41 off 19), and Rinku Singh (26 off 8).

For DC, Anrich Nortje picked three wickets, and Ishant Sharma took 2 in the final over, while Khaleel Ahmed and Mitchell Marsh claimed one each.
