Earlier, Sunil Narine smashed his maiden century, scoring 109 off 56 balls, including 13 fours and 6 sixes, much to the delight of the home crowd. Philip Salt (10 off 13), Angkrish Raghuvanshi (30 off 18), Shreyas Iyer (11 off 7), Andre Russell (13 off 10), and Venkatesh Iyer (8 off 6) also made valuable contributions. Rinku Singh remained not out at 20 off 9.

While the home team remained unchanged at Eden Gardens, RR made changes as Jos Buttler and R Ashwin returned to the team for this game.
