In the upcoming Match 8 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are set to clash, both eager for their first win of the tournament following defeats in their season openers. However, the spotlight will shine bright, particularly on former MI skipper Rohit Sharma.

Marking a significant milestone, Rohit is set to play his 200th match for MI, a momentous occasion marked by a special '200' jersey gifted to him by Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.

Today, the 'Hitman' will have become the 1st cricketer to play 200 IPL matches for Mumbai Indians, joining an elite group alongside Virat Kohli (RCB) and MS Dhoni (CSK) as the only players to achieve this feat.

Today's appearance will also see Rohit play his 245th IPL match, trailing only behind MS Dhoni who has made 252 appearances.

Rohit holds the record for the highest run-scorer for MI in the IPL, amassing over 5000 runs, a feat unmatched by any other player who has represented MI. 

Notably, the former MI captain was the second Indian player, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, to score an IPL century for Mumbai Indians.
