After Riyan Parag dropped a sitter, Philip Salt seized the opportunity to accelerate in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, he was not given enough time to settle as Avesh Khan came to bowl his second over and dismissed the KKR batter for 10 off 13.

Yet, it was a stunner of a return catch taken by the RR pacer that grabbed everyone's attention. The bowler shortened the length and kept it wide off. Salt aimed to smash it flat straight past the bowler but instead skewed it off the thick inside half of the bat. It flew low to the left of Avesh, who managed to stick his hand out and take a well-judged low catch.

After taking the catch, he and skipper Sanju Samson shared a light moment, with the wicketkeeper even giving Avesh his gloves as, in the previous game, the two had collided while going for a catch. Fans on X (formerly known as Twitter) were shocked but also impressed with the catch taken.

As for the clash, in 8 overs, KKR scored 74 runs and lost one wicket after being asked to bat first by RR. Sunil Narine (34 off 23) is at the crease along with young gun Angkrish Raghuvanshi (22 off 12).

While the home team remained unchanged at Eden Gardens, RR made changes as Jos Buttler and R Ashwin were available for this game and made a comeback.
