Australia's Mitchell Starc has secured the position of the IPL's most expensive player in history, obtaining a remarkable bid of INR 24.75 crore from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing player auction in Dubai. In the earlier stages of the same auction, Australian captain Pat Cummins briefly held this prestigious title when the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) successfully bid for him at INR 20.5 crore.

Travis Head, initially expected to command a significant sum, also found a buyer in SRH, securing a relatively moderate bid of INR 6.80 crore.

Seeing his fellow Australian cricketers attract substantial bids, David Warner, who has been playing in the IPL since the 2009 edition, shared his reflections on their lucrative acquisitions. While commending his compatriots, Warner unintentionally disclosed a noteworthy aspect of his relationship with his former IPL franchise, Sunrisers Hyderabad.

"Trying to repost @travishead34 post but blocked from @sunrisers Instagram," Warner wrote, as he posted a screenshot of the Hyderabad franchise's profile.

Warner's departure from Sunrisers was marked by strained relations; despite leading the side during the 2021 season, he was sidelined midway and subsequently relieved of his captaincy. Despite the resumption of the season after a Covid-19-induced suspension, Warner was not reinstated in the team.

As a result, Warner found a new team with the Delhi Capitals (DC) for the 2022 edition, making a return to the franchise where he had initially made his IPL debut.
