It's superstars galore at Mumbai's Wankhede as Team India takes on New Zealand in the men's World Cup 2023 semis. Football royalty David Beckham was earlier spotted interacting with the players along with local man Sachin Tendulkar, and the massive crowd also boasts other major names like superstar Rajinikanth and Tiger 3 actor Salman Khan. Also in attendance is Ranbir Kapoor who, much to the delight of the fans, was spotted sporting the Indian jersey in the crowd.

Ranbir, of course, has revealed already that he would merge promotions for his upcoming film Animal, which is set to arrive in theatres on December 1. Having reached the stadium in a snazzy suit, the 41-year-old would then switch into Team India's World Cup jersey that had been specially designed for him. Ranbir Kapoor's t-shirt bears the name 'Animal' with the number '1' awarded to him. The cameras showed that he was in the company of Akash Ambani.

Prior to the game, the actor spoke to the broadcasting team of Mayanyi Langer, Simon Doull and Ravi Shastri and offered a brief synopsis of his upcoming release. Written and directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga (Kabir Singh fame), Animal is billed as a crime/gangster movie that has a strong dramatic core, centred around a father-son relationship. Anil Kapoor plays Ranbir's father in the film whose cast also includes Rashmika Mandanna, Tripti Dimri and Bobby Deol.

As far as the semi-final encounter is concerned, team India opted to bat after Rohit Sharma won the toss, much to the delight of the effervescent Wankhede crowd. Having reached this point without a single loss to their name, Rohit Sharma and Co. are arguably the favourites to win the tournament but one cannot rule out the threat that teams like New Zealand, Australia and South Africa pose to this pursuit.
