As the anticipation for the ICC World Cup 2023 builds up, India is gearing up to take on the formidable Australian team in a three-match ODI series. This upcoming series holds great significance for both teams as it offers them a final opportunity to assess and fine-tune their squads before the ODI World Cup commences on October 5.

The series is poised to serve as a crucial test for Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav, albeit for different reasons. While Shreyas Iyer will be returning back from injury, Suryakumar Yadav will aim to deliver an impactful performance.

On the Australian front, the return of Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Mitchell Starc to the 18-man squad will be noteworthy. These three players were recovering from injuries and were absent during the recent tour of South Africa.

Unfortunately, top-order batsman Travis Head has been sidelined due to a left-hand fracture sustained during the Proteas tour. Matthew Short, who is yet to make his ODI debut, has been named as his replacement.

India vs Australia, ODI series 2023 schedule:

September 22 - India vs Australia, 1st ODI in Mohali

September 24 - India vs Australia, 2nd ODI - Indore

September 27 - India vs Australia, 3rd ODI - Rajkot
