Trust the fandom of Indian cricket to celebrate every little moment in the epic semi-final clash against New Zealand. Prior the teams taking the field, the respective captains made their way out for the toss, which evidently was enveloped by a lot of anticipation in the Wankhede crowd. The excitement soared through the roof moments later when Rohit Sharma, having won the toss, announced that Team India would bat first.

A roar erupted from the stands as soon as this decision came to light to reveal just how significant the toss would be in the run of play. As much as the iconic Mumbai wicket is known to be a batsman's paradise, as it were, the pitch report by Ravi Shastri and Simon Doull did throw up a few interesting pointers about how the game could fare over a period of 100 overs. It's a good wicket, no doubt, but the slowness in it will bring in the spinners big time.

So, India choosing to bat first, should ( lend Rohit Sharma the upper hand and social media is well aware of this fact.

Netizens react to India winning the toss

Well, needless to say, netizens are quite optimistic of India's chances after winning the toss and many even believe that the victory is just around the corner. Indian team thus far has done an exceptional job defending targets, big or small, and one would like to believe that if the batters put on a credible total in the first innings, the bowlers might just do the job. Hope prevails, let's hope.

"India have won the toss and decided to Qualify for the finals!" wrote one user while another predicted it's just a matter of time before team India "rolls over" the opposition.

"Toss won is half the match won," said another user to emphasize the importance of small victories on such an occasion.
