Setting the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai ablaze on Day 2 of the one-off match against England, Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma displayed outstanding heroics that resulted in the visiting team getting all-out for 136 runs. India, having amassed a formidable 428 in the first session, maintained relentless pressure on the English batters.
Deepti Sharma's exceptional performance made her only the second Indian to achieve the rare feat of both scoring a fifty and taking five wickets in a Test game. The last instance of such brilliance was recorded in 1985 by Shubangi Kulkarni, who scored 79 and claimed 6/99 in a drawn match against New Zealand.
