Team India has made an impressive start in the 1st ODI against South Africa in Johannesburg, with the Proteas opting to bat first and finding themselves in dire straits at 58 runs with seven wickets down.

The early onslaught began with Mukesh Kumar delivering an almost maiden first over, except for a wide ball. Following that, Arshdeep Singh entered in the 2nd over and swiftly removed Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen, both for ducks, in a single over.

The South African innings continued on a downward spiral as wickets kept falling. Heinrich Klaasen departed after scoring 6, while skipper Aiden Markram was dismissed for 12. Wiaan Mulder had no time to settle as he was sent back to the pavilion without scoring. It was soon that David Miller also walked back for just 2 runs.

Cricket enthusiasts swiftly took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to discuss the relatively young Indian side challenging the well-experienced South African team at the New Wanderers Stadium.

At the time of writing this article, 13 overs had been bowled, and the host nation struggled to reach 58 runs, losing seven crucial wickets. Andile Phehlukwayo and Keshav Maharaj at the crease, aiming to salvage a decent total in the 50-over contest.
