Team India's bowlers continued their remarkable performance in the 1st ODI against South Africa after being instructed to bowl first, disrupting the Proteas' attempts to settle at the crease. Pacer Arshdeep Singh, in particular, stood out by achieving his maiden ODI five-wicket haul.

Arshdeep Singh's impactful contribution began in the 2nd over of the match, where he swiftly dismissed Reeza Hendricks and Rassie van der Dussen, both for ducks, in a single over. The South African innings unravelled further as Arshdeep Singh claimed the wickets of Heinrich Klaasen (6) and opening batter Tony de Zorzi (28).

His fifth wicket came against Andile Phehlukwayo, who fell victim to a fullish delivery, swinging across the line and getting hit on the front pad. Though Phehlukwayo initially challenged the decision, a review confirmed his dismissal, and Arshdeep celebrated his fifer with a Dhawan-like thigh-slap.

Cricket enthusiasts quickly turned to social media, particularly X (formerly known as Twitter), to discuss Arshdeep Singh's exceptional spell, which posed a significant challenge to the well-experienced South African team at the New Wanderers Stadium.

At the time of this update, 27.3 overs were completed, and the host nation managed to accumulate only 116 runs before being dismissed, with Kuldeep Yadav claiming the last wicket of Nandre Burger.
